Sarah: Not the Same Thing

So lately (as in yesterday) I've been thinking about cutting my hair short. Not like pixie short, but bob short. I'm tired of growing my hair out and I want to change things up. So I typed into google, "trendy hairstyles for curly hair". And this is what I got:

What. the. heck. I thought I asked for curly hairstyles, not perfectly manipulated hairstyles that are created to make people believe that Gwyneth freaking Paltrow just got back from the beach and just so happens to have flawless waves... That's not curly hair. It is not the same thing.

Curly haired ladies, how many times have you lusted after a hairstyle but thought, "Oh I can't pull that off with my curly hair." How many times have you looked at a hair tutorial only to find the afterthought, "This works for curly hair also." When it comes to hair, we are second class citizens.

Why is there no real hair advice for us curly headed ladies? We want to get in on all the latest, coolest, and trendiest hairstyles, but we can't! We don't know how. And when we reach out for help, this is the kind of thing we get: fake curls that insult the very essence of of curliness.

I have imperfect curls, individual ringlets - each one having a mind of its own, not straight-made-to-look-curly hair. And they need guidance, nurturing, and love.

So here's the point of this rant: I'm calling on you, major hairstylists of the world, help us truly curly-haired ladies. Give us real advice and guidance about our hair and stop - just stop - trying to pass off the curling-iron-curls as curly hair. It's insulting.

Kelsey: Wedding Help

I have literally planned nothing weddingish. And I intend to put that off for as long as I can because planning sucks! I hate to plan anything! Even a wedding! I thought maybe I would get engaged and then I would suddenly love to plan a wedding. Stupid. I don't. I can't wait to marry Denis. I could skip the wedding part... unless someone else will plan it. Eh Sarah?

What I don't understand is this, because I was born with a uterus I should posses the skills to plan an event for hundreds of people? What? I do not. I posses the skills to bear children, event planning is not included in that package. (Our wedding will not have hundreds of people, but I'm just saying).

I do possess the skills to decorate.

So I am focusing on that part.

And I could use help.

I went to Sephora the other day (cards on the table I have been to like Sephora 3 times in the past month). They have these beautiful giant white and gold paper flowers in their windows for Christmas.

So pretty right? So after Christmas they give some to employees who want them and the rest they throw away! And I want them! But I will be gone for the whole week after Christmas which is when they say they are taking them down. Plus I am guessing I would need to get some from like 12 Sephora stores. So if you live near Sephora and will be around on the 26th would you collect some paper flowers for me?

Sarah: Shoes for Your Eyes Part II

Heya, folks. So in early June I ordered some Warby Parker glasses. I didn't find anything I really liked, so I never ordered a pair.

But I made another order with different frames and they arrived today! I like these frames much more than I like the other ones. And since my camera was stolen, I had to take these with the iphone. People, I need your help figuring out which ones look best.

Shoes for Your Eyes

Have you heard of Warby Parker? They're a super cool company that seeks to provide quality, stylish, affordable glasses to people. All of their frames and lenses are under $100 and when you purchase a pair, they donate a pair to someone who also needs glasses. It's like toms shoes for your eyes.

Part of Warby Parker's deal is that you can select 5 pairs of glasses from their site to have sent to your home to try them out for 5 whole days (for free, might I add...). My 5 arrived today! WOO! But now I need to figure out which ones look the best. And I need your help! Please give me your opinion on which ones you think look best out of the five (don't pay attention to the color of any of the frames):

My husband says he can't tell a difference between any of them, which is super helpful. He says that if he must choose, he picks 5. I think 5 is too safe...While I like them, they're just so straight edge, you know? I want some style, some hip-ness, if you will.
